About Juan

Juan Barrera founded YardaCalc in 2026 and is responsible for everything published on it. Juan researches each product in its manufacturer data sheet, turns the numbers into calculators backed by automated tests, and writes the pages in English and in Spanish.

Qualifications, stated plainly

Juan is not a licensed contractor, engineer or building inspector. That is why YardaCalc shows its work: every figure links to its source with the date it was checked, the calculators are tested against the examples manufacturers publish, and every page shows when it was last updated. For structural work and permits, talk to a licensed professional.

How each calculator is checked

  1. Find each yield, coverage rate or rule in the manufacturer's data sheet.
  2. Record it once in the site's data files, next to the link to its source and the date.
  3. Add automated tests that compare the calculator with the manufacturer's own examples.
  4. Calculate every table and example on the page with the same engine as the calculator, never by hand.
  5. Recheck prices and data sheets regularly, and fix reported errors quickly.
